COVID-19 posed many business challenges for Capital One, including how to safely interact with consumers through their brick-and-mortar Capital One Cafés in the US. These cafés were designed to reimagine the banking experience by empowering people to feel more confident in their relationship with money and their financial journeys. But naturally, with in-person events on hold, my team was tasked with translating the physical café experience into a meaningful virtual one.
The thinking resulted in an online experience and influencer-led content campaign called The Blend. This is a coffee-related nod to the blended lives Capital One consumers lead and the blended approach that cafés offer in helping consumers achieve well-being in all facets of their lives. We created a mix of pre-recorded content pieces that were paired with a livestream event with host, Candace Parker, and influencers whose authentic stories matched with our theme of that particular session.
My role in this project was to research each of the influencers, develop storylines and host discovery calls with the talent to ensure that these storylines were authentic to each person. We then moved into our pre-recorded shoots, where I developed the look and feel of the shoots, made sure we captured all content that fit our storylines in the interview portion and then pulled all relevant content from the transcripts for our editors, providing feedback of the cuts along the way. I also designed the hub where all of this content would live, along with our livestreams.
Over the last year, we have hosted 3 livestream events and created 25 pre-recorded videos with the themes of: Money and Values, Money and Relationships, and Money and Balance, with more themed events and content currently in the works.
Much of this content can be seen at the virtual hub I designed, CapitalOneCafeEvents.com
