This assignment is a commentary on this year's State of the Union Address. The event, I feel, is full of ritual and unrelentless pomp and circumstance. The reasctions of the audience, including the opposing party, seemed to come only out of formality and made me wonder if everyone present and watching from home was truly taking in the speech, or was simply caught up in the ceremony. This was also around the time that I became interested in visual acuity: the sense of becoming aware of the things around you. I created a test of sorts, using an eye chart format as inspiration. The viewer is challanged to read the large text, and if inspired to look further, would come to realize that the transcript of the President's speech is containted within.
