clumpies bubble t-shirt, 2007
I was approached to create a new t-shirt design for local ice cream company, Clumpies. The parameters: a design that would work well on an orange t-shirt, one that was completely different from the usual treatment of the Clumpies brand, and something that was fun and bubbly. I chose a typeface that was the complete opposite of the blocky, angled letterforms of the Clumpies brand. These letterforms are rounded, almost marshmallow-like, giving an idea of sweetness. The configuration is legible, but also slightly off-kilter, making the letterforms appear to be moving; floating around one another like bubbles. The color scheme is reminiscent of spring and summertime; earthy, yet vibrant.
